New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has told a Delhi Court that the agency’s counsels will be “sensitised” through a special programme.

The ED’s communication to Special Judge Jitendra Singh of Rouse Avenue courts comes after the court had summoned the special director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) following one of the agency’s counsels addressed the judge in an offensive and derogatory manner, reported The Times of India.

Last week, when questioned about reason for seeking adjournment in a matter related to the money laundering case involving Karnataka’s deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar and others, the ED counsel allegedly spoke in a “loud tone” to the judge, and said he had been “directed by the higher-ups” to do so.

Following the incident, the court had directed the ED special director to be physically present and verify that whether the concerned counsel was conducting the case as per the agency’s instructions.

The court had then said that it was necessary to take action for the purpose of upholding the dignity of the court.
