Ali Khan Mahmudabad Presented Before Court, Sent to Judicial Custody Till May 27

New Delhi: A district court in Sonepat on Tuesday (May 20) sent arrested Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad to sent to judicial custody till May 27.
Kapil Balyan, a counsel for Mahmudabad said that he was presented before the court on Tuesday afternoon after the end of his two-day police remand.
“The police sought an extension of his remand by seven days. During the arguments, we opposed the extension of the police remand... The court has sent him to judicial custody till May 27,” said Balyan, reported the Press Trust of India.
Earlier, Haryana police had on Sunday (May 18) arrested Mahmudabad under charges that point to sedition and for hurting religious sentiments complaint for his comments on India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.
Two FIRs were lodged against Mahmudabad, one on the complaint of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearer and the other on the complaint of the Haryana State Commission for Women days after its chairperson had summoned the professor over his social media posts against warmongering following India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.
