Delhi Court Extends CM Kejriwal's Custody for 4 Days, ED Had Asked for 7

New Delhi: The Rouse Avenue court on March 28 extended the Enforcement Directorate’s custody of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by four days, till April 1.

The ED had sought seven more days of remand in the liquor excise policy case.

Kejriwal is to be produced before the same court at 11.30 am on April 1, the court said.

Kejriwal spoke in Hindi and Bar and Bench‘s translations and report on the exchange in Special Judge (PC Act) Kaveri Baweja’s court reveal a defiant chief minister who said he is not opposed to the ED’s remand of him.

“I am not opposing the remand. ED can keep me in custody as long as they want,” he said.

AAP spokespersons have maintained that the chief minister is capable of running the government from jail.

Since his arrest by the ED on March 21, Kejriwal has become the first sitting chief minister to implement this unique model.

Kejriwal also alleged that accused Sarath Chandra Reddy donated Rs 55 crore to BJP to secure bail in the case. “I have evidence that a racket is running. Money trail is established,” the CM said.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, appearing for the ED, said that the agency needs to confront the CM with statements of some more persons and alleged that Kejriwal was refusing to share passwords of his accounts with the agency.
