Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have arrested and remanded a student to judicial custody for allegedly raping his senior in BMS College of Engineering in Basavanagudi.
The police arrested the accused Jeevan Gowda on Wednesday (October 15). The alleged incident occurred last Friday (October 10) and a complaint was filed and a case was registered under Section 64 (Punishment for Rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) only on Wednesday.
"A case of rape has been registered in the Hanumanthanagar police station based on the complaint of a student of BMS College. The victim alleges that a junior of one year, who is also a student in the same college, raped her in the college building, the teaching block of the building. Following this, a case was registered and the victim has been produced before the concerned court and remanded to custody. An investigation is underway about the circumstances that led to the commission of the crime," DCP (South) Bengaluru City Lokesh B. Jagalasar told the media.
As per the FIR, on the day of the alleged assault the accused asked the woman during lunch break to come to the architecture block on the seventh floor where he forcefully kissed her. She somehow managed to take the lift and went to the sixth floor where Gowda allegedly dragged her to the men's washroom and raped her.
The seventh-semester student also mentioned in her complaint that Gowda, who is studying in the fifth semester, later called and asked her if she wanted a "pill".
