New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday, May 12, registered a corruption case against former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, who had arrested Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan.

According to the Indian Express, Wankhede and four others had allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore bribe from the owners of Cordelia ship from where Aryan Khan was arrested in an alleged drugs case.

The central probe agency has filed a first information report against Wankhede and conducted searches in his premises across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi and Kanpur, news reports said.

According to reports, Wankhede was NCB's Mumbai zonal chief when he and others had raided the cruise ship on the night of October 2, 2021.

Khan was given a clean chit by the special investigation team (SIT) of the NCB in May 2022 due to "lack of sufficient evidence".

The SIT claimed that the probe led by Wankhede had lapses.

In the raid, the NCB claimed to have seized 13 grams of cocaine, five grams of mephedrone, 21 grams of marijuana, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy) and Rs 1.33 lakh in cash. After the raid, the anti-drugs probe agency arrested 17 persons, including Aryan Khan.

Wankhede was accused of doing “shoddy investigation” in the case, the Indian Express had reported.

The team headed by him included Vishwa Vijay Singh, who had led a team of officers to Shah Rukh Khan’s residence Mannat in connection with the probe.

Wankhede was transferred to the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services in Chennai in May last year.
