Kapil Sibal, one of India’s foremost lawyers and a former law minister has said we need “a complete overhaul of the collegium system” because it has "let us down”. Sibal also said that we need “a collaborative mechanism involving both bar and bench” to ensure judicial accountability.

In a 30-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Sibal, the current president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, said he would be willing to knock on the chief justice of India’s doors both to suggest how the collegium system should be overhauled and also to help put in place a new mechanism.
