New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (April 28) allowed internet personality Ranveer Allahbadia's passport to be returned to him.

Allahbadia, who has a podcast show under his moniker ‘Beer Biceps’, had been on the receiving end of threats, outrage and FIRs earlier this year since he made controversial comments on a YouTube show called 'India's Got Latent'.

In February, the Supreme Court granted Allahbadia protection from arrest in cases registered against him in three cities – but not before making severe remarks on the nature of his jokes.

In March, the apex court had allowed Allahbadia to resume his podcast if he maintains "morality and decency".

Today, a bench of Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh were told by the Assam and Maharashtra governments that the investigation against him was complete, PTI has reported.

The bench asked Allahbadia to approach the Maharashtra cyber police bureau for the return of his passport.

The bench said that it would consider Allahbadia's plea to club the FIRs against him in the next hearing.
