New Delhi: The Allahabad high court has granted bail to a man who had been arrested after allegations were made that he was selling sugarcane juice “adulterated with beef,” Bar and Bench has reported.
Bareilly-resident Fuzail, the accused, has argued that he has been falsely implicated in a case where one of his alleged customers had complained that he adulterates his juice with beef.
Arguing that the customer in fact had a dispute over payment, Fuzail also said that no forensic test had been done on the juice he sold and pleaded for bail.
Fuzail had been arrested late last year in late November, and charged by Uttar Pradesh police under sections 323 (causing hurt), 504 (attempt to break public peace) and 295-A (outraging religious sentiments) of the Indian Penal Code.
Uttar Pradesh has laws providing a maximum rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and a fine up to Rs 5 lakh for cow slaughter.
