The Supreme Court has said in the Pegasus case that it is important for every citizen to have the right to privacy. The court also said that it would not sit as a 'silent spectator' every time the government cites 'national security' to refrain from answering questions in detail. It has, therefore, directed the formation of a technical committee under retired Supreme Court judge, Justice Raveendran to look into the revelations of the Pegasus Project reports, published by The Wire and several other international organisations.
