In the second episode of ‘The Justice Brief’, I look at the “larger conspiracy case” connected to the February 2020 Delhi Riots. Twenty-one accused have been charged under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) with some of them suffering long incarcerations. The courts have been unable to come to their rescue. The apathy shown by India’s criminal justice system can be best understood through accused Salim Malik’s case.
