New Delhi: Anjali Gopalan and the Naz Foundation have been fighting a historic court case for 17 years to decriminalise Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. Section 377 prescribes life imprisonment for “unnatural sex”. Even while she has been waiting for her petition to be resolved, the incumbent Chief Justice of India decided in January to hear a new petition, jumping over the petition by Naz.

In conversation with The Wire‘s Anoo Bhuyan, Gopalan talks about how the last 17 years have been, dealing with the ups and downs of due process and what these new cases mean to the movement.
