New Delhi: After television channels telecasted fake reports related to the Israel-US war on Iran, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on Friday (March 6) directed the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) to immediately suspend the release of Television Rating Points (TRP) for news television channels for the next four weeks. The ministry raised concerns over “sensational and speculative” coverage related to the escalating tensions initiated by the attack on Iran by Israel and US.

It added: "In the public interest, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting hereby directs M/s BARC to immediately withhold reporting the Television Rating Points (TRPs) for News TV Channels for a period of four (4) weeks or until further directions, whichever is earlier."
