New Delhi: The Wire and The India Cable – a premium newsletter from The Wire and Galileo Ideas – have won ‘silver’ in the South Asian Digital Media Awards 2021 in the ‘Best Reader Revenue Initiative’ and ‘Best Newsletter’ categories, respectively.
These awards, presented by WAN-IFRA, recognise South Asian publishers who have delivered unique and original digital media projects in the last 12 months. Within each category, winners and two runners up were given gold, silver and bronze awards, respectively.
According to WAN-IFRA, the awards in their fifth edition saw more than 140 entries, a record jump of close to double the number of entries in the previous year.
The Wire’s Support The Wire campaign bagged the award in the ‘Reader Revenue Initiative’ category.
“Our work depends on our donors, and as such, our fundraising is an integral part of how we build our legacy. We do not approach this as just a marketing campaign, because we believe our donors support us because of our principles,” Naomi Barton, communications manager at The Wire said.
The gold in this category was won by Hindustan Times’s ‘HT Codeathon’ campaign and the bronze by the ‘Freedom Sale 2021’ campaign by The Hindu Group.
The India Cable has won silver in the ‘Best Newsletter’ category.
The newsletter is written by Seema Chishti, Siddharth Varadarajan, Sidharth Bhatia, Sushant Singh, Tanweer Alam and M.K. Venu, and is edited by Pratik Kanjilal.
Gold in this category was won by Times of India’s ‘Times TOP 10’ newsletter and bronze, by ‘Here’s the thing – Weekly Members-only Newsletter’ by Spunklane Media Pvt. Ltd.
