Three Flights From Mumbai Receive Bomb Threats, One Diverted

New Delhi: An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted mid-air to Delhi early Monday (October 14) after a security concern arose out of bomb threat. Two more flights of the Indigo airlines too received similar threats.

“An Air India flight operating from Mumbai to New York was diverted to Delhi following a security concern arising out of bomb threat… All standard safety protocols are being diligently followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew on board,” DCP IGI, Usha Rangnani said, reported The Indian Express.

The DCP said that the threat was received from a tweet on the social media platform X.

The flight, AI 119 received a specific security alert, said Air India.

“Flight AI119 operating Mumbai to JFK (New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport) on October 14 received a specific security alert and on instructions of the government’s security regulatory committee was diverted to Delhi. All passengers have disembarked and are at the Delhi airport terminal. Our colleagues on ground are making sure to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption,” an Air India spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, two more flights – IndiGo flight 6E 1275, bound for Muscat from Mumbai and IndiGo flight 6E 56, operating from Mumbai to Jeddah – also received a bomb threat, reported Hindustan Times.

Mandatory security checks of the aircrafts were initiated in wake of the threats.
