At a public event, BJP MLA Rameshbhai Chhotubhai Patel instructed government job contractors to not give money to anyone except the 2% required within the BJP system.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Rameshbhai Chhotubhai Patel from Jalalpore, Gujarat revealed that a “2%” commission system exists within the BJP system, The New Indian Express reported.

At a public forum related to discussion on a lake beautification project in the Vijalpore area of Navsari district on Tuesday (March 12), the BJP MLA confirmed the existence of corruption in the saffron party. He instructed government job contractors to “not give money to anyone except the 2% required within the BJP system.”

As per the report, Patel told contractors that Rs 4 crore sanctioned for the lake beautification project should not be distributed among individuals, adding, “any contributions beyond the stipulated 2% were unacceptable.”

Reacting to Patel’s statement, the Congress underlined that the BJP was openly engaging in corruption. Further, they asserted that previously the BJP’s corrupt practices were “concealed” but they are now “openly acknowledged” by its leaders, as per the report.

The New Indian Express quoted Gujarat Congress spokesperson Hiren Banker speaking on the issue, he said, “Former BJP chief minister Anandi Ben Patel once stated that BJP workers have become contractors, indicating that they are more interested in commissions.”

Notably, as per the country-wise corruption perception index (CPI) put together by Transparency International (TI), a noted platform that works in over a hundred countries to fight corruption and promote transparency in public life, India has slipped from 85th position in 2022 to 93rd in 2023.
