New Delhi: As NCP-SP Chief Sharad Pawar turned 84 on Thursday (December 12), among the guests who attended his birthday celebration included his nephew and Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who had parted ways with his uncle last year and split, taking a majority of the NCP MLAs with him.

Ajit visited Pawar on Tuesday with his wife and Rajya Sabha MP Sunetra Pawar, their son Paarth, along with NCP leaders Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal and Sunil Tatkare, reported the Press Trust of India.

We came today to wish him (Sharad Pawar) on his birthday,” Bhujbal.

Surrounded by party workers, Pawar had cut the cake during his birthday celebrations on Tuesday.

In the recently-concluded Maharashtra assembly elections, Ajit’s NCP had handed over a resounding defeat to the Maha Vikas Aghadi, of which Pawar’s NCP-SP is a part. Ajit had later taking oath as the deputy chief minister in the BJP-led NDA government in the state.

Last year, after Ajit engineered the split in the party that was founded by his uncle, the Election Commission had granted his faction the original symbol of the NCP.
