Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya's Wealth Grew 2986% In Last 5 Years

As per reports, Surya declared total assets of Rs 4.10 crore while filing his nomination on April 4. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP MP had declared total assets of Rs. 13.46 lakh. Bengaluru South goes for polls on Friday, April 26.

Bengaluru: Data research conducted by a Bengaluru-based organisation found that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya’s wealth grew by 2986% in the last five years.

In terms of political parties with highest wealth growth rate in last five years in Bengaluru, the BJP tops the list with 1009% wealth growth, Bangalorevotes.org, a civil right group mentioned. Further, Congress is a distant second with 76% wealth growth. The average wealth of members of the BJP is Rs 49.4 crore while the average wealth of members of the Congress party is Rs 206.7 crore.

Among the nominees of different parties fielded in the four constituencies in Karnataka state capital — Bengaluru North, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru Central and Bengaluru Rural — BJP’s Surya’s wealth grew the maximum by 2986% followed by Congress Bengaluru Rural renominated candidate D.K. Suresh whose wealth grew by 76% and union minister Shobha Karandlaje occupies the third spot with 33% growth, as per the affidavits of the candidates available on the Election Commission of India (ECI) website. Karandlaje is contesting from the Bengaluru North seat.
