Stepping up further pressure on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government, the Congress on Friday became the third political party to move a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha following the motions already moved by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the YSR Congress.
Both the Andhra Pradesh parties moved the motions early this week in protest against the government’s failure to keep its promise of granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh and seeking a special financial package.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, in a letter to the Secretary General of the Lower House, has requested that the motion be included in the revised list of business on Monday, March 27, the Indian Express reported.

The whole of the second leg of the Budget session has seen repeated adjournments by the Speaker following Opposition protests on various issues. As a result of the impasse, the no-confidence motions moved by TDP and YSRC this Monday are yet to be taken up.
According to the Indian Express, on Thursday, MPs of YSR Congress and TDP had filed fresh notices for the motion, and some of them had even met the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan seeking immediate debate on the matter.
However, the Speaker decided against taking up the motions yet again on Friday following continued disruption by the Opposition.
The Rajya Sabha too was adjourned on Friday without transacting any business following a ruckus by TDP members seeking special category status for Andhra.
