New Delhi: Exit polls published on Saturday (October 5) indicate that the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance will emerge the largest bloc in Jammu and Kashmir and that the grand old party will win a comfortable victory in Haryana.

The majority mark in both territories is 46. While most exit polls sampled here are either unclear about the Congress-NC’s winning a majority or project it falling short of the mark, all sample exit polls predict a majority for the Congress in Haryana.

Assembly elections for J&K’s 90 assembly seats were held in three phases between September 18 and October 1, while in Haryana, all 90 seats voted in one phase on Saturday.

Votes for both states will be counted on Tuesday (October 8).

The PDP stands for the Peoples’ Democratic Party, which was the last party along with the BJP to have been in power in J&K before the latter withdrew its support in 2018. Governor’s rule was followed by the dissolution of the legislature in 2019.

The AIP stands for the Awami Ittehad Party and is led by the firebrand Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid.

All the above exit polls project that the Congress will cross the majority mark of 46. The INLD is the Indian National Lok Dal, the BSP the Bahujan Samaj Party, the JJP the Jannayak Janta Party, the ASP the Aazad Samaj Party and the AAP the Aam Aadmi Party.
