Fourth 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' Rally to Be Held in in Pune Exclusively for Girls

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (August 15) announced another chhatron ki goonj rally to be held on August 22 in Pune. The event is exclusively for girls this time, Gandhi said in a post on X.

“What do the girls of the country need? Equality, safety, opportunities, and the freedom to speak their minds. What have they received? Insecurity, discrimination, and nothing but waiting for their real rights. No more,” his post said."

Announcing the Pune meeting, Rahul said that girls will no longer be silenced. “On Aug 22, Chhatron ki goonj is arriving in Pune-and this time, the event will be exclusively for girls. Now the girls will speak, and the country will listen,” he said.

Gandhi launched the campaign from the coaching hub of the country, Kota, on June 17, followed by two events in Dehradun (July 17) and Prayagraj (August 8). The fourth edition will be held in Pune.

Citing water-logging issues and a court order on fair use, the venue for the August 8 rally in Bharatiya Janata Party-led Uttar Pradesh had revoked permission for Gandhi’s event. However, the rally ultimately took place at the same venue.

The Wire has previously reported on the Prayagraj rally, organised at K.P. Ground, that was attended by thousands of young people. Attendees had thronged to the venue hours before the dialogue between Gandhi and students began. Slogans such as “Job nahi milega toh sinhasan hilega (if we don’t get a job then thrones will be shaken up)” and “job do nahi toh isteefa do (either give us job or tender your resignation)” were raised at the event.
