New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday (March 3) claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led “central government was neglecting 73% of the country’s population, which belongs to marginalised sections of the society”.

While addressing the ‘Jan Vishwas Rally’ organised by the Rashtriya Janata Dal in Patna, Gandhi, alleged that “a party” was trying to spread hatred among people but “we are offering ‘nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat’ (love in the market of hatred)”, PTI reported.

The Congress leader also criticised the Agniveer recruitment scheme introduced in June 2022, saying that the scheme was against the youths of the country, the newspaper reported.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who was also present at the event, claimed that the INDIA bloc will win the maximum number of seats in the polls. He said that the Opposition was not scared of central agencies ED, CBI and I-T, which were being “misused against them”.

“For the prosperity of the country and to protect the Constitution, the Modi government must be voted out,” he added.

Last month, Gandhi had accused the Narendra Modi government of having brought the Agniveer scheme in order to spend the defence budget for the benefit of a big business house.

“An Agniveer will not get a salary or pension on par with a regular army soldier now will he get access to the canteen,” alleged Gandhi, at Mohania in Kaimur district of Bihar.

The Agniveer scheme was launched in June 2022 to recruit ‘below the officer’s rank’ cadres of the three services for a period of four years. It saw massive protests across the country.
