New Delhi: Around 200 people participated in a "silent march" at Jantar Mantar on July 13 to protest the killing of civilians in Kashmir. Protesters carried placards with messages condemning the Indian state's response to the massive protests in the Valley following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Thirty-seven people have been killed in Kashmir in violent confrontations between civilians and security forces even as curfews and restrictions continue for the sixth consecutive day. The gathering was attended by students, artists, trade union activists and journalists who wore black armbands to register their dissent.
