Nanded (Maharashtra): In Maharashtra, the Nanded Lok Sabha polls will be held in the second phase on April 26. Vasantrao Chavan is contesting from the Congress party, and Prataprao Patil Chikhlikar is contesting from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This Lok Sabha election in Nanded has become very prestigious, and the reason is that former chief minister of Maharashtra and leader of Nanded Congress Ashok Chavan has recently joined the BJP.

Nanded remains a Congress stronghold; ordinary Congress workers do not like that Chavan has joined the BJP.

When asked about whether Chavan’s departure has any effect on the Nanded Congress, Congress workers said that Ashok Chavan has betrayed the Congress party and the people of Nanded. To save his property, Ashok Chavan, they alleged, surrendered to the central agencies of ED-CBI and joined the BJP.

Nanded Lok Sabha consists of six assembly constituencies, including Bhokar and Ashok Chavan’s constituency. Nanded North has Shiv Sena’s (Shinde Group) MLA Balaji Kalyankar, and Congress’s Mohanrao Hambarde is from Nanded South. Presently, the Degalur assembly constituency is with the Congress, while the Naigaon and Mukhed assembly constituencies are dominated by the BJP.
