New Delhi: A lookout notice has been issued by the special investigation team (SIT) set up by the Karnataka Police to probe into the alleged sexual abuse by Prajwal Revanna.

With the lookout notice sent out to various immigration points across the country, Revanna will be detained as soon as he reports at any of the immigration points at airports, sea ports, or at any border checkposts.

A day before, on Wednesday, May 1, the SIT issued summons to the Hassan MP to appear before it for questioning within 24 hours. Revanna’s lawyer said he couldn’t appear for questioning, as his client is out of the country and sought seven days’ time.  “As I am not in Bangalore to attend the enquiry, I have communicated to C.I.D Bangalore through my Advocate. Truth will prevail soon,” wrote Revanna on his official X (formerly) page.

Citing sources in the SIT, The Hindu reported that Revanna, who left for Germany on April 27, has his return ticket booked for May 15. The suspended JD (S) leader flew out of Bengaluru using his diplomatic passport at 2 am on April 27 hours after the alleged sexual abuse came to light, resulting in a political storm amidst ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He is reportedly in Munich, Germany, at the moment.

Meanwhile, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to cancel Revanna’s diplomatic passport and to ensure the return of “absconding” MP to India to “face the full force of the law”.

On the other hand, Union home minister Amit Shah hit out at the Siddaramaih government. “Whose government is it in Karnataka? Congress party’s. Law and order is their responsibility. They knew about it for months. But they didn’t nab him until the Vokkaliga voting concluded. They let him flee. Karnataka CM, HM, Deputy CM are responsible for it,” Shah said in an interview with the news agency ANI.
