New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s national general secretary Vinod Tawde was allegedly discovered with a large amount of cash at a hotel today (November 19), less than a day before Maharashtra goes to the assembly polls.
The ‘discovery’ took place after supporters of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi party entered the Vivanta Hotel in Manvelpada, claimed there was money in a bag Tawde was carrying, and upon finding it, took cash out and flung it around. Videos of the incident have been shared multiple times on social media. They show Tawde sitting at a table and surrounded by people who have cash in their hands.
Some reports have it that Tawde purportedly had Rs 5 crores in his bag, along with a diary of people to whom the money was to be given.
Times of India has reported that Tawde travelled from Wada Taluka in Palghar before reaching Virar around 10 am. By then, BVA supporters said, they had seen Tawde distributing money to people.
Shiv Sena Uddhav Bal Thackeray faction leader Sanjay Raut wrote on X that the “BJP’s game is over” and that the BVA has done what the Election Commission should have.
