Ujiarpur (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is speaking of mangalsutras and buffaloes to “dilute the agenda [of the opposition]”, as the people know his government is trying to “finish” the constitution and democracy, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav told The Wire in an interview.
He was referring to Modi’s false claim that the Congress has promised in its manifesto that it will distribute Hindus’ property, including women’s mangalsutras, among Muslims and confiscate what people own in ‘excess’, such as an extra buffalo, in a bid to impose inheritance tax.
Yadav also said that the INDIA opposition bloc would create a “surprising” result in Bihar and that the state would “bring such a result that they [the BJP and its alliance] will not be able to form the Union government”.
He was attending a party rally in Bihar’s Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency, which is one of five seats in the state that is voting in the fourth phase of elections on Monday (May 13).
