New Delhi: Amid increasing reports of a rift within the Uttar Pradesh BJP, with a section of the party leaders wanting a change in leadership, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath defended his government’s ‘bulldozer policy’ and sent a message to his party.

Adityanath, who has been in the line of fire ever since the BJP lost a substantial chunk of its Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh, said that he took the responsibility of running the government and “not to do a mere job,” reported The Indian Express.

“You are afraid of bulldozer, but it is not for innocent. It is for those criminals who play with the trust of the youth of the state, play with the security of traders and daughters of the state, spread anarchy and make common people’s life miserable,” said Adityanath in the state assembly.

Earlier, BJP’s ally in Uttar Pradesh and minister in the state government Sanjay Nishad had said that the saffron party had lost in the state during the Lok Sabha elections due to “misuse of bulldozer.”

“Mein yahan naukri karne nahi aaya hun, katai nahi. Mein is liye aaya hun ki agar koi karega to bhuktega bhi (I have not come here to do a mere job, never. I have come to ensure that the guilty suffer for their acts),” said Adityanath in the assembly, reported The Indian Express.

“Yeh pratishtha ki ladayi nahi hai… Mujhe pratistha prapt karni hoti to ush se jyada pratistha apne mutt mein mil jaati hai (This is not a fight for prestige. I get more prestige in my mutt),” the Uttar Pradesh CM added.

Sending a message to his detractors within the BJP along with the opposition, Adityanath said that his government will continue and function with strength.
