New Delhi: Following Harbhajan Singh’s statement that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had ‘sold’ its Rajya Sabha tickets, leaders of opposition parties on Saturday (May 23) demanded that Singh divulge the details of these financial transactions, of who paid what for who, The Tribune reported.

On May 22, cricketer-turned-Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh – who left the AAP along with six other MPs and joined the BJP in April – had stated that Punjab had been “looted and devoured”.

“And to those calling me a traitor, first ask your own people how much the Punjab Rajya Sabha seat was sold for,” he had said in a post on X. “If they don't tell you, I'll tell you who got how much bribe and from whose side. And how someone was made a minister or watchman to loot Punjab and deliver goods to Lala. Punjab has been looted and devoured.”

Members of the Congress have raised attention to this. The Tribune quoted Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa as saying that Singh's statement had “exposed the ugly truth”.

“The people of Punjab deserve answers from Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. Who sold Punjab’s interests? Who traded Rajya Sabha seats?” The Tribune quoted Bajwa as saying.

Bajwa also sought a probe by the Central Vigilance Commission into the allegations. Congress leader Pargat Singh also said that Harbhajan Singh should divulge the details of these alleged ‘purchases’ in public. He also demanded that the Punjab BJP should hold a press conference with its MPs and place the complete facts of this alleged corruption before the public.

The report quoted former MP Bikram Singh Majithia saying that Harbhajan Singh’s words “say it all” and that Rajya Sabha seats were sold and Punjab's political system compromised.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj on Saturday dismissed these allegations, and asked the former cricketer to clarify who allegedly received money if such payments were indeed made.
