The first phase of Lok Sabha elections is set for April 19, covering Ramtek, Nagpur, Bhandara-Gondia, Gadchiroli-Chimur, and Chandrapur constituencies in Maharashtra.
While there is a fierce fight between Maha Vikas Aghadi and Maha Yuti, the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi is contesting independently in this election.
Key players in Maha Vikas Aghadi include Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar), and Shiv Sena (UBT). Former Congress Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan discussed the forthcoming elections in a video interview.
Chavan has commented on Maharashtra Congress’s role in the upcoming elections, the Maratha agitation, corruption, inflation, and the alliance with Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi.
He emphasised that concerns like inflation, corruption, and farmer suicides matter in the election because the construction of the Ram temple doesn’t significantly influence voters in Maharashtra.
