New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) Chief Sharad Pawar has hinted at the possibility of the two factions of the NCP reuniting in the future.
Pawar said during an informal chat with the media that a section of his party was in the favour of reuniting with the NCP led by Ajit Pawar, reported the Times of India.
"If the reunion happens, it should not surprise others," said Pawar.
However, Pawar said that he was not “actively involved in taking such decisions” and his daughter Supriya Sule will have to sit and discuss the matter with her cousin Ajit Pawar.
The NCP had split in July 2023 after Ajit Pawar took a substantial chunk of NCP MLAs to ally with the BJP and Shiv Sena to be a part of the Mahayuti government in the state. Subsequently, the Mahayuti won a thumping majority in the 2024 assembly elections in Maharashtra.
In comparison, the NCP (SP) along with the Shiv Sena (UBT) suffered a series of setbacks after a dismal performance in the assembly elections.
