In an interview to discuss the implications of the rift that seems to have emerged between Shashi Tharoor and the Congress Party, historian, author and political commentator Ramachandra Guha has said that he believes Tharoor should have been made the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha in 2019. However, Guha also says that if there is one criticism that can be made of Tharoor, it’s his love of attention and adulation.
In a 25-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Guha described Shashi as an “outstanding writer, scholar and thinker” adding he is “an asset to the Congress Party and an adornment to Indian politics”.
