In an interview to discuss the prime minister’s new doctrine against terror, articulated in his address to the nation last night, Arun Shourie, a former Cabinet minister and a former Editor of The Indian Express, said that whilst he agrees and endorses a large part of Modi’s new doctrine, he also warned the prime minister that to effectively fight terror, Modi must first treat all Indians justly. Quoting from the Gospel by Matthew (12.25) from the New Testament, Shourie said, “Every Kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”
