Sadak se Sansad has reached the historic port city of Thoothukudi. Last year in May, the police fired into an unarmed group of 20,000 people who had gathered to protest against the Sterlite copper plant in the city. Thirteen people were shot dead. There is still much anger over the shooting.

What impact the Sterlite shooting will have on the April 18 electoral contest between BJP's Tamil Nadu president Tamilisai Soundararajan and DMK's Kanimozhi remains to be seen.
