Happymon Jacob talks about the recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir, the reasons why the Indian government chose to read down Article 370, the manner in which this was done and the implications it can have, both domestic and international. "India made J&K an international issue in 1947 by taking it to the UN, demoted it to a bilateral issue in 1972 (Simla Agreement) and now considers it as a unilateral (domestic) issue in 2019", Jacob says.
