In a strong defence of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Lok Sabha MP, Mahua Moitra, has forcefully said: “The real Trinamool is Mamata Banerjee and she will return to power.”

Moitra said: “The Trinamool Congress is a Party that was started by Mamata Banerjee and gets its legitimacy, gets its vote, gets its mandate from Mamata Banerjee. So any so-called rebel or split, whatever there may be, they are not the Trinamool Congress. As long as Mamata Banerjee is alive and she is still involved in politics the Trinamool is the Trinamool.”

Speaking about Abhishek Banerjee, the General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress, Mahua Moitra said: “Are you asking me whether Abhishek Banerjee was bad for the Party? No he was not. I have seen how hard he has worked. I have seen the structures he’s brought to the Party. It’s very easy to point fingers and say Abhishek was all bad. No he wasn’t. That’s not correct.”

Speaking about Suvendu Adhikari, the new chief minister of West Bengal, Mahua Moitra said: “Suvendu has a one point agenda to finish Abhishek Banerjee because he believes that it was because of Abhishek Banerjee that Mamata Banerjee did not let him rise in the party beyond a certain point.”

Finally, speaking about the BJP, Mahua Moitra said: “For me its very clear, the BJP is my enemy till death. I will need a platform to fight the BJP...whatever is wrong with my Party it’s still the best option to fight the BJP. And to fight the majoritarianism in India today...I have a spine. You can kill me. You can do whatever you like. Until the BJP is out from India I will never leave politics. I don’t care what they do to me. They can kill me but I will see the end of BJP before I die.”
