The plans include a mosque, a hospital, a research centre and a community kitchen.

Ayodhya: The Ayodhya Masjid Trust-Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation has submitted the drawings of maps of its proposed project at Dhannipur in Ayodhya with the Ayodhya Development Authority on Monday. A mosque and other facilities are to be developed on the five acres of land granted by the Supreme Court in its Ayodhya title dispute case verdict at Dhannipur.

The trustee, Captain Afzaal Ahmad Khan, held a meeting with the vice-chairman and other officials of the Ayodhya Development Authority. Khan talked about the project that includes a 300-bed super speciality hospital, a community kitchen that will feed about 1,000 people per day, a research centre in the name of freedom fighter and martyr Maulvi Ahmadullah Shah, and a mosque that can accommodate 2,000 namazis at a time.

The mosque will be four times bigger than the Babri Masjid. The hospital complex will be six times the size of the mosque.

The maps, in 11 sets, have been submitted to Vishal Singh, vice-chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority. The Trust has also deposited Rs 89,000 as processing fees for the approval of the map.

Khan said that the maps are large in size and very different from normal maps, so the clearance can’t be applied for online. Therefore, the Ayodhya Development Authority has been requested to approve the maps in person.

Khan has also expressed his deep concern over the non issuance of a tax exemption certificate under Section 80G by the income tax department to the Indo Islamic Cultural Foundation. “Due to this, the donations for the Trust are held up and that is hampering the start of our project,” he said. He urged the Union government and finance ministry to intervene.

As The Wire has reported before, the Ayodhya mosque, to be built on five acres of land as mandated by the Supreme Court, will have a “cosmic” design resembling the spherical earth cushioned in space.
