I wish you tidings of peace

Knowing well

There is war all around.

And silently, pray your heart

Knows solace

Better than the wisdom of knowing.

But that’s how it’s always been

The peace that eludes us

Always floating away

Like the breeze faraway

Where a thought gathers

And a lamp still shines

In a small house

Where someone is reading the story of love

A mother to her child

Who is figuring out the letters

Of her first alphabet.

But hope arrives silent

In the honey dew of wisdom

On a broken wing

Carrying dusk in her arms

And forgetting where she was

Last evening.
