On July 5, Father Stan Swamy passed away after spending nearly eight months in prison, without trial under an anti-terror law. The inhuman conditions he was subjected to exacerbated his Parkinson’s disease. He was one of the jailed human rights advocates also known as the Bhima Koregaon 16, arrested over charges of having links with Maoist rebels.

The evidence that surrounds the case is bizarre. An investigation conducted by Arsenal Consulting, a Boston-based digital forensics firm, has claimed the evidence for the arrests of the activists in the Bhima Koregaon case was planted on their computers. The Wire breaks down the story.
