It is not clear if Karan Bhushan Singh, the BJP's Lok Sabha election candidate from Kaiserganj, was in the cavalcade at the time of the accident.

New Delhi: Two people – one of them a minor – were killed and one injured after a car in the convoy of sexual harassment accused lawmaker Brij Bhushan Singh’s son, Karan, hit a motorcycle in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district. Police are learned to have arrested the driver and lodged a first information report.

Karan Bhushan Singh is a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat.

It is not clear if Karan was in the cavalcade at the time of the accident.

The Hindu has reported that the incident occurred near Baikunth Degree College on Colonelganj-Huzoorpur road.

Many have posted images of the car on the social media site X, noting that it has the words “police escort” written on the rear windscreen.

Some outlets have reported that the two killed were minors. Others have said that one was 17 years old and the other, 24.

NDTV has reported that the first information report on the crime has the minor victim’s mother saying that the teenager and his 24-year-old cousin had been out on a motorcycle to buy medicines when the speeding SUV hit the two-wheeler.

A six-time MP, Brij Bhushan was denied as ticket this time possibly because he is the accused in multiple allegations of sexual harassment and coercion by the country’s top wrestlers. He, nonetheless, remains a local strongman.
