In Photos | 'For Gaza': Hundreds in Delhi Call for Complete Boycott of Israel

Speakers from across movements condemned India's silence and complicity. Between chants, people spoke of solidarity and rage, of watching another genocide unfold in real time, and the need to show up.

New Delhi: Hundreds gathered under the early October sun at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, including students, activists, artists and people who had travelled from different cities, on October 5.

They held flags and placards that read “Free Palestine” and “End the Siege of Gaza.” The protest, organised by BDS India and the Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP), was part of a nationwide movement against Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and the illegal arrest of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla, many of whom remain imprisoned in Israel.

Speakers from across movements condemned India's silence and complicity. Between chants, people spoke of solidarity and rage, of watching another genocide unfold in real time, and the need to show up.

The protesters called for a complete diplomatic, academic, commercial, and cultural boycott of Israel in India. They demanded that the Indian state cut all diplomatic ties with Israel, ban Israeli products and companies complicit in the occupation, and stop engaging with Israeli writers, artists, and academicians. They also urged the state to ensure that Indian companies divest from Israel, and to sanction the Israeli state for what they described as a cold-blooded genocide.

The protesters further demanded that all FIRs and notices issued against pro-Palestine activists be withdrawn, and that strict action be taken against both the police officials and groups involved in attacking or harassing peaceful demonstrators across the India.
