New Delhi: A protest was held in Srinagar on Wednesday (April 30) against incidents of harassment of Kashmiri students in different regions of the country at the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

The protest was also supported by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party.

Several incidents of attacks and harassment of Kashmiri students have been reported from various regions of the country since the killing of 26 people, mostly tourists, by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22.

In the first six days after the Pahalgam attack, at least 17 cases have been reported across India where Kashmiri students have been assaulted.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah had said his government was in touch with the states where such incidents were being reported.

“I’m also in touch with my counterpart Chief Ministers in these states & have requested they take extra care,” Abdullah had said after the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, an advocacy group for Kashmiri students outside the valley, flagged these incidents in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
