Since January this year, there has been an unprecedented crackdown on journalists in Chhattisgarh’s Adivasi-dominated Bastar, better known for the two-decade-long Maoist insurgency. Many, who reported against police excesses in the region, have been branded as either ‘anti-national’ or ‘Naxal’, harassed, arrested, and tortured.
