Parents of RG Kar Rape Victim Accuse CBI of 'Suppressing Investigation' Under Political Pressure

“[The] CBI has been sold out. They are trying to suppress the investigation and cover up the matter in exchange for money. They know everything... several persons were involved in my daughter's murder,' the parents said.

New Delhi: Reiterating their lack of trust in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the parents of RG Kar medical college rape victim on Saturday (June 7) alleged that the premier investigating agency was not doing enough to bring the culprits to justice.

The parents told Times of India, “[The] CBI has been sold out. They are trying to suppress the investigation and cover up the matter in exchange for money. They know everything... several persons were involved in my daughter's murder.”

They also accused the CBI of "suppressing the investigation" owing to monetary and political pressure, the paper reported.

“We are unhappy with how the CBI has probed the case. We do not think their investigation was fair or accurate. While they named only one person in their chargesheet, we believe more people were involved. We will not rest till the larger conspiracy behind our daughter’s deaths is brought to light,” the victim’s father told The Hindu.

"Corruption is rampant at RG Kar. My daughter was murdered because she refused to pay," the victim's mother was quoted by TOI as saying.

A group of students, doctors and locals organised a meeting near the victim's house and called for a fresh movement from August 9, 2025 if the authorities are unable to deliver justice, the paper reported.

Not the first allegations against CBI

This is not the first time that the victim's parents have made such an allegation.

In the aftermath of two accused getting bail in December last year – including the then principal of RG Kar medical college – the parents alleged that the 'system’ had failed them.

“We thought the CBI would bring those responsible to justice, but with the accused out on bail, it feels like the system is failing us, TOI quoted the victim's father as saying.

Her mother said she had thought that the CBI would help them in getting justice and trusted it. With the bail to the accused, the parents were left wondering if they would ever get justice.

On the birthday of the victim in February this year, they urged the doctors to hit the streets again. "My daughter died on August 9. Her birthday is on February 9, six months after the horrific incident. We are yet to get justice in the matter. We will be on the streets on February 9. The people have been beside us for the last six months. So I appeal to the people again to hit the streets on February 9," the victim's mother had said in the video message, NDTV had reported.
