New Delhi: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is getting ready for another round of street protests, as group’s founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Wednesday (August 12) “Season 2 of Jantar Mantar” would start very soon.

Following last month’s student and youth-led protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over various examination irregularities, which ultimately forced the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the CJP had announced it would continue as a pressure group to hold democratic institutions accountable.

“Many people were commenting on Instagram when Season 2 of 'Jantar-Mantar' will begin. I want to tell them that Season 2 of 'Jantar-Mantar' is going to start very soon,” Dipke said, speaking to the media.

CJP chief spokesperson Saruva Das followed it saying this itself was “Season 2”. 

"Protests are taking place across the country against such incompetent governments and officers. On behalf of CJP, we are now embarking on a nationwide 'listening tour' to hear what the public has to say. We will run a campaign, and we are prioritising the issue of education starting from Independence Day,” he said.

The announcement came as Dipke alleged that the party was struggling to find a venue for its volunteers’ meet in Delhi as hall owners refused to rent space because of “pressure from above”.

Dipke blamed the BJP for the alleged pressure and said the incident showed that the party was uneasy about the growing youth movement.

Later, Das alleged that police showed up at his family’s home in Puducherry and subjected them to questioning. 

“Two hours ago, the Pondicherry Police showed up at my family’s home and subjected them to all kinds of questioning. Why this harassment, 

@PuducheryPolice? Who ordered this and for what purpose? Is this the legal procedure? Why is the BJP government in Pondicherry intimidating my family? This is not the character of the Pondy government. This is being done at the behest of the Union government!” he wrote on X.

Das alleged that this was an attempt to intimidate him into silence but that it would not work. “If the intention is to intimidate me into silence, it will not work. This will not cower me down. It only strengthens our resolve to build a better system, one where the police uphold the law instead of acting like goondas!” he said.
