Four days after The Indian Express reported on the dissent notes being filed by two of three election commissioners – Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi – over the last 10 months regarding various decisions being taken in their name around the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls, the Election Commission of India met on Saturday (September 26) and issued a press statement after.

In conversation with The Wire's managing editor Jahnavi Sen, former chief election commissioner S.Y. Quraishi, transparency rights activist Amrita Johri and The Wire's editor Seema Chishti break down the significance of several rollbacks that have been announced, including saying that the old Form 6 will be used in 'non-SIR periods', booth level officers will make home visits for everyone who has received notices, and the ECINet software will be reviewed by a team including independent experts from Indian Institutes of Technology or Indian Institutes of Information Technology.
