Watch | In Kashmir, Some Are Casting Their Votes Hoping It Can Save Their Homes

The polling for the DDC election took place between 7 am to 2 pm on November 28.

For the first time since Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was revoked, elections for the District Development Councils have taken place in the new Union Territory.

The total percentage of voting for J&K UT was 51.7%. In Jammu, voting was at 64.2%, and in Kashmir, it was 65%.

The polling took place between 7 am to 2 pm on November 28. In Pulwama district, the voter turnout at many polling booths was low. At some polling booths, zero votes were cast.

The Wire met with three voters who are casting their ballots to save their land and houses. We also spoke to a candidate in J&K.
