After the arrest of activist Teesta Setalvad and former Gujarat officer R.B. Sreekumar by the Gujarat Police, protests are being witnessed across the country demanding their immediate release.

Condemnations and solidarity statements have been pouring in from across the world, accusing the Narendra Modi government of "criminalising dissent" and "illegally" going after those who tried to stand by the victims of the Gujarat 2002 riots.

Demanding their release, civil society activists, students and lawyers, among others protested at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
