New Delhi: Around hundred schools in the Delhi National Capital Region received bomb threats through email today, May 1, leading to hurried evacuation drives.

A video released by PTI shows parents crowding the entrances of certain schools in Delhi and Noida. Some guardians on social media have written about receiving calls from schools, asking them to pick up their wards.

Delhi education minister Atishi has posted on X saying that so far nothing has been found in any of the schools.

“Some schools have received bomb threats today morning. Students have been evacuated and those premises are being searched by Delhi Police. So far nothing has been found in any of the schools. We are in constant touch with the Police and the schools. Would request parents and citizens not to panic. School authorities will be in touch with parents wherever needed,” she wrote.

The news agency ANI has quoted DCP Central, Devesh Kumar Mahla as having echoed Atishi. “We’ve checked all the schools and nothing has been found, there is no need to panic,” he said.

The Indian Express has reported that the schools got the threats on their official email addresses. The messages arrived as early as 4 am, the report says.

Bomb squads were deployed to the schools which received the threats to assess the situation.

The report says that central agencies are probing the issue.

ANI has identified some of the schools that got threats as Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Mother Mary School at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi, Delhi Public School in Dwarka and Noida, and Amity International School in Pushp Vihar and Saket.

All schools are or were evacuated.

“We received a call regarding a bomb threat in the school but nothing has been found,” PTI quoted fire official J.B. Singh who was at the Mother Mary’s School, Mayur Vihar, as having said.
