New Delhi: Four Indian Army officers – including two captains – have been killed in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The encounter reportedly began on Wednesday (November 22) morning.

One militant was reportedly also killed in the encounter.

Three of the deceased have been identified as Captain MV Pranjal of 63 Rashtriya Rifles, and Captain Shubham and Havildar Majid of 9 PARA, The Indian Express reported. Soldiers from 9 PARA reportedly went into the forests to evacuate Captain Pranjal, but they came under heavy fire.

Officials said the encounter started around 9 am in Bazi Mal Upper forests in Kalakote when militants opened fire on police and security forces who had launched searches following specific intelligence input.
