New Delhi: A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district Saturday (September 16), Kashmir Police said on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The encounter took place near the Line of Control (LoC), in the areas of Uri and Hathlanga in Baramulla, the Indian Express reported.
This incident happened amid an ongoing anti-militancy operation in the Anantnag district.
Earlier this week, two Army personnel and a police officer were killed during an encounter while carrying out the same operation.
On September 13, the commanding officer of the Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Colonel Manpreet Singh, based in south Kashmir’s Kokernag, was killed along with Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police (DSP), Humayun Muzamil Bhat, and Major Aashish Dhonchak of the Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles.
Defence sources in Delhi told the newspaper that one soldier was reported to be missing.
